Jim joined Dolinka, VanNoord & Company in 2008. Prior to merging, he managed his own practice for 19 years working with small to medium size businesses and nonprofit organizations in West Michigan. In addition to his tax and accounting knowledge, Jim has extensive experience in the areas of software applications, internal control design, management structure, financing, budgets, and mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of the Michigan Business Broker Association where he consults on business acquisition issues. He serves as a volunteer mentor for the Start Garden program started by Rick DeVos in June of 2012 helping startup companies understand some of the basic business skills they will need. He also has 15 years of experience in the area of tax collection and negotiation issues including installment agreements and Offers in Compromise with the IRS . Prior to starting his own practice, he has also worked outside of public accounting as an assistant controller for a $45 million dollar recreational vehicle dealership. (1987-1989). His internship was completed with Carter, Hamilton, Dieterman, CPA's in Grand Rapids (1985-1986). He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Davenport College in 1985. He is an avid boater with a particular interest in classic wooden boats and served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Antique Classic Boat Society out of Clayton New York. (2005-2013). Over the years, he's served on various finance and administrative committees for his church. He has lived and worked in the Grand Rapids area his entire life along with his wife and son.
